ALPINA - Made to inspire
In order to secure uvex's high market share in the ski goggle business, the second brand ALPINA was launched in 1970. However, it was not until the reorganisation into ‘ALPINA Sportartikel Vertriebs GmbH’ in 1980 in Derching near Augsburg that the multi-brand strategy achieved the desired success. Under the leadership of Werner Grau, Hagen Stockklausner, Gunther Fink and Rolf Obermaier, ALPINA developed into an independent specialist retail brand with an international focus.
ALPINA looked beyond national borders early on. In 1988, the company expanded into Austria and founded the ‘Alpina Sport- & Optik Vertriebsgesellschaft m.g.H’ under managing director Fritz Neudeck. Shortly afterwards, another milestone in internationalization followed – the founding of ‘ALPINA OPTIK + SPORT AG’ in Switzerland under the leadership of Claudius Pfister.
The ‘made to inspire’ mission motivates ALPINA to concentrate on what matters most—the moments on the bike, the slopes, and every adventure. Ultimately, nothing beats heading out well protected. Step away from the everyday and into adventure!
