1930er
The first Olympic Games with ski goggles from Fürth
As early as the 1930s, Philipp M. Winter was supplying not only workers and craftsmen, but also athletes for the first time with specially manufactured ski and motorcycle goggles. A milestone was the equipping of several successful athletes – including Christl Cranz – at the 1936 Olympic Games with specially developed protective goggles.
This laid the foundation for uvex's long tradition in top-level sport. Alpine racers, motor sports enthusiasts and mountaineers placed their trust in the quality products from Fürth early on – long before the term ‘sports sponsorship’ even existed.
Today, uvex is still present at the Olympic Games: at the 25th Winter Olympics in Milan/ Cortina, over 200 athletes from a wide range of nations put their trust in uvex products. As usual, the helmet stood out with an exclusive special gold finish, symbolising uvex's enduring spirit of innovation and its connection to top-class sport.
