Since 1986, the production of protective work gloves has been in full swing in Lüneburg, southeast of Hamburg. What began in 1978 as a joint venture between Profas and uvex has now become one of Europe's largest protective glove manufacturer. In 1999, uvex acquired a majority stake in the company and, in 2013, renamed Profas to uvex safety gloves. Construction of the third factory building began that same year and was inaugurated the following year.

Today, uvex safety gloves uses globally unique production technologies and coating systems to manufacture protective gloves that are used in the automotive, chemical, mechanical engineering and electrical industries, among others.

The company has already successfully implemented numerous projects, such as paste savings in the mixing plant, the construction of a combined heat and power plant and the use of propane gas.
