From the 1960s onwards, as diving sports activities developed rapidly, uvex was involved from the very beginning as a true pioneer, selling individual products.
Based on new types of plastics and rubber compounds, uvex was one of the first manufacturers to present a product range for people enthusiastic about water sports – from hobby snorkellers to ambitious sport divers. The continually expanding range of the diving sports programme included masks and goggles for children, teenagers and adults, snorkels, fins and diving knives.
The masks bore distinctive names such as uvex Nymphe and uvex Nautilus or Champion equinaut and offered excellent safety and pleasant wearing comfort. Customers could expect not only shatterproof and anti-fog lenses, but also a surprisingly large field of view, good fit and a watertight seal.
The fin models ranged from affordable swimming fins to professional models with different rubber hardnesses for optimum functionality.
From 1970 onwards, the products were offered as sets including a mask and snorkel, fins and a water ball in an attractive gift box.
By 1975, the diving sports programme comprised over 30 different items.
The uvex Nymphe was one of the first uvex special models developed for young divers aged between six and fourteen. Thanks to its large plastic lens, it offered a particularly wide field of view. The slightly outward-curved sealing edges enabled a watertight fit on any face shape.

uvex floor display stand
New to the range in 1981 was the mobile floor display stand, which showcased some of the highlights of the diving sports range. The stand was intended above all to support retailers through attractive product presentation at the point of sale. Standing just under 1.80 m tall, the stand offered space for fins, snorkels and diving goggles.
