From pen to screen – The evolution of accounting
Walking through our offices today, you see screens full of numbers and automated postings in SAP. It is hard to imagine how accounting worked a hundred years ago.
At that time, business transactions were recorded in small sales ledgers. Every income and every expense was entered by hand. The books smelled of paper and ink. You could almost hear the rustling of the pages at the end of the month when totals were drawn, and you could feel the patience and precision behind every single entry. These handwritten records were the heart of our company.
Today, much of the work is digital: postings are processed automatically, figures are evaluated in an instant, and reports are generated at the push of a button. The work is more efficient and less prone to errors – yet the care remains the same.
The old sales ledgers remind us of where we come from: from pen to screen, from manual work to technology, always driven by accuracy and reliability.
