Logo evolution - The beginning of the uvex era
Sunglasses cannot be called “Winter” – thought Rainer Winter, and so he named them uvex: a shortened form of the quality feature for lenses, “ultra violet excluded”. In 1956, the first uvex trademark was created. In the years that followed, it was repeatedly modernised and adapted to the current brand identity.
Over time, the uvex safety and uvex sports subgroups sometimes managed their brands independently and used their own separate logos. In 2014, it was decided that a unified logo would be used for both business areas in order to strengthen the brand’s appearance as a cohesive whole. The current uvex logo is characterised by a clear and minimalist design that combines modernity and recognisability. It conveys a timeless, professional appearance and impressively underscores the brand values of quality and innovation.
