How uvex found its way into children’s bedrooms
At the beginning of the 1990s, an unusual chapter began for uvex: our brand suddenly appeared where imagination normally reigns – in children’s rooms. Renowned toy manufacturers such as Playmobil and Simba Dickie Toys approached us because their products were supposed to look more authentic. And what could be more realistic than a motorbike rider or skier with a uvex helmet, an equestrian set with a faithfully reproduced uvex riding helmet or a horse trailer with the uvex logo?
This is how our logo ended up on mini ski helmets, riding carts, riding helmets and even on truck tarpaulins in 1:16 scale. Play worlds became more realistic, children’s eyes grew wider – and suddenly we were not only present on World Cup slopes, but right in the middle of children’s rooms with building blocks and play mats. For us, this collaboration was above all a sign of how naturally our brand is anchored in sport. Toy manufacturers only turn to real brands when children recognise them from real life and uvex simply belongs to genuine equipment.
