When a real prince gets behind the wheel of a racing car, the equipment may gladly be royal. Leopold Prince of Bavaria – a direct descendant of King Ludwig I – is an enthusiastic motorsport athlete. Whether hill climbs, the German or Japanese Touring Car Championships, the World Sports Car Championship or the Ice Championship in North America: “Poldi” was on many tracks of the world – and from the very beginning with uvex on his head.
In 2008, he received from uvex a car racing product system designed especially for him: individually manufactured racing clothing consisting of a racing overall based on the “r3” model, decorated with the white and blue coat of arms of the Bavarian royal house – plus a matching helmet. During his visit to Fürth, the prince personally tried on the new outfit.
Today, both parts, helmet and overall, lie in our archive and enrich our collection. That a real prince relies on uvex is more than just an anecdote for us – it is a highlight in our 100‑year history that continues to live on in helmet and overall.
