Bazi - The story behind our mascot
Today, Bazi is almost everywhere. He can be found on buildings, as the friendly face of the employer brand, or as a companion in everyday working life. But it all started in the uvex group employee magazine durchblick. The last page featured a column called ‘Bazille’: a cheeky commentary that addressed things that often went unsaid – the forgotten yoghurt in the fridge, the full dishwasher or the door that slammed shut in front of your nose.
At first, Bazille was just a small signature without a face. Then an internal competition was launched to collect suggestions for a mascot. A graphic designer implemented the best ideas, and Bazi was born.
Over many issues, he had a permanent place in durchblick and provided more than a hundred tips and food for thought with humor and a wink. When the magazine was discontinued in 2019, Bazi was given a new task: he moved to the ‘Did you know?’ section, where he became a fact broker.
Today, he is much more than a character from the employee magazine. Bazi is part of the employer brand, supports training communication and even draws attention to himself on signs and on the intranet. Thus, a small side note became a real crowd pleaser.
