Product packaging - From inconspicuous to stylish
Our product packaging has undergone an amazing journey over the last 100 years. Over the decades, colour, typography and visual language came into play. Logos became visible and brands recognisable. Packaging developed from inconspicuous coverings into means of expression that attract attention and tell stories. A look back clearly shows the development: right at the beginning, there were brown boxes without a logo. Practical, simple and solely there to protect the contents.
Then came the “middle‑aged treasures”: CI colours, more typography and logos placed for the first time. Packaging became the ambassador of a product and promised a desire for more. And finally, the modern examples: clear forms, reduced design, products with a face, pure minimalism and always with sustainability in focus. Even without frills, packaging today can stand out, evoke emotions and convey stories.
One thing becomes clear: product packaging reflects trends and accompanies us through time. Who knows what surprises the next hundred years will still hold?
