In 2006, the uvex safety group acquired a majority stake in the US‑based company Trinity Technologies. This acquisition represented a strategic step in expanding the laser safety portfolio of uvex, with a particular focus on strengthening its subsidiary laservision. Following the acquisition, Trinity Technologies was renamed laservision USA. As a result, laservision evolved into one of the global market leaders in laser safety solutions. In 2025, this expansion strategy was further reinforced with the acquisition of the laser specialist Innovative Optics.

The Saint Paul Winter Carnival boasts a rich history as the nation's oldest winter festival, beginning in 1886. The ice castle is main showpiece of the festival.. In fact the 1886 ice castle was one of the first buildings in the city to have electricity. Other activities include, snow sculpting, ice sculpting, curling, and ice skating.
