uvex Arbeitsschutz (Schweiz) AG was founded in Basel in 1991. The team initially consisted of three employees who served the whole of Switzerland, working both in the office and in the field. The company quickly established itself in the Swiss market and achieved a breakthrough, particularly with the successful uvex astrospec model and the innovative ‘hydroflex’ cushioning system in safety footwear.

Change in management
Massimo Nicastro took over the management role from Hanspeter Mathis on 1 January 2018.
13,198 pairs of shoes
That is how many pairs of uvex safety shoes were used during the construction of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, which set the world record for the longest railway tunnel in the world when it was completed on 15 October 2010.

In 2024, uvex safety Schweiz AG won the Safe Workplace Award, recognising it as the second safest company in Switzerland.
