Following decades of successful development and adaptation to the European market, Primetta was acquired by the uvex group in 2016. Together with Filtral, it forms the Filtral group, which is the group’s third sub-group. The brand complements the group’s portfolio with fashionable sunglasses and reading aids for the retail sector. The company was founded in 1928 by August Wulf in Bad Salzuflen. Sunglasses production began as early as 1936. In the early 1990s, production was relocated from the company’s own manufacturing facility to other high-performance countries. In 2024, the site moved to Max-Planck-Str in Bad Salzuflen. Today, the product range comprises a wide selection of fashionable and functional eyewear – including polarised and photochromic models – and is sold in department stores, sports shops, chemists, airports and tourist hotspots both at home and abroad.
