After uvex had gained a wide range of experience in the production of safety footwear over a number of years, a close partnership developed in the 1970s with the Italian shoe manufacturer Cagi s.n.c. in Ceva, Piedmont. In 1987, uvex acquired a majority stake and took full control of the company in 1989. Much like the brand name uvex, the name Cagi was also formed from two words. The first names of the founders, Candela Giulio and Giuseppe Gorzegno, form the abbreviation Cagi. In 2001, the ‘factory of the future’ was established, transforming Cagi into a state-of-the-art production facility.

1974 Safety shoes are sold under the brand Winter
1981 First 12-unit DESMA system for direct soling is purchased by Cagi
1983 uvex brand is also used for safety shoes

2000 Production of 500,000 pairs of safety shoes per year for the first time

2001-2003 New 30-unit DESMA direct-sole machines for multilayer outsoles using polyurethane are introduced

A fourth 30-unit DESMA direct-soling machine is purchased to increase capacity
Environmental management system successfully certified in accordance with ISO 14001
