After uvex had gained several years of diverse experience in the production of safety footwear, an intensive collaboration developed in the 1970s with the Italian shoe manufacturer Cagi s.n.c. in Ceva, Piedmont. In 1987, uvex acquired a majority stake and took over the company completely in 1989. Similar to the acronym of the uvex brand, the name Cagi was also formed from two words. The name of the founder, Candela Giulio, creates the abbreviation Cagi. In 2001, the “Factory of the Future” was established, turning Cagi into a highly modern production facility.
